Arriving at Athens Airport
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" is in Spata, about 35 km east of the city centre. This is what to expect on the day.
After landing you clear passport control in Hall A (flights from outside the Schengen area) or Hall B (Schengen and domestic flights), then collect your luggage in the arrivals hall on the ground floor. Your driver waits at the exit of that hall with your name on a sign, so there is no taxi rank to queue at.
The only fast road into the city is the A6 Attiki Odos motorway, a toll road that costs €2.55 for a private vehicle. It gets congested on weekday mornings (07:30–09:30) and evenings (17:00–19:30), when a drive of 25 to 30 minutes can stretch past an hour. That is why we quote one fixed price and no meter: a slow Friday evening costs you the same as a quiet Tuesday morning.

More than a transfer
For a lot of visitors, the driver waiting at arrivals is the first person they meet in Greece. We treat it that way: one van, one driver you can reach by phone, and a price agreed before you land.
Whether you are arriving at the airport, heading to a port, planning a day out of the city or moving a wedding party between venues, you get a comfortable ride and no surprises on arrival.

Questions people ask before they book
Booking, pickup, pricing and what happens if your plans change.
Where exactly does the driver meet me at Athens Airport?
Your driver waits at the arrivals baggage-hall exit on the ground floor, holding a sign with your name — whether you land at the Main Terminal or the seasonal Satellite Terminal. Clear passport control and baggage claim, then look for your name at the exit.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight in real time, so if it's delayed the driver's arrival adjusts automatically — you won't find them waiting at the old time, and it won't cost you extra. The first 60 minutes after your actual landing time are free.
How do I pay, and is tipping expected?
By default ("Reserve Now & Pay Later" at checkout), you pay the driver directly in cash at the end of the ride — nothing is charged when you book. If you choose "Pay Now" instead, PayPal handles the charge — by card or PayPal account — and we never see your card details. Tipping isn't expected in Greece; a little extra for great service is appreciated but never required.
Can I cancel?
For transfers and van-by-the-hour bookings, yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup — just send us a message. Day trips have their own cancellation window; see our Cancellation & Refund Policy for both.
How much luggage fits?
Up to 5 passengers with full-size suitcases, or 6–7 passengers with carry-on bags. Tell us about strollers, golf bags or extra suitcases and we will confirm before your trip.
Are tolls and low-emission zone fees included in the price?
Yes. The Attiki Odos motorway toll is already built into your fixed price, and Athens' low-emission "Daktylios" zone restricts private cars, not licensed transfers — so there's no zone fee for us to pass on either way. The number we quote is the number you pay.
How long does the transfer to central Athens take?
Usually 25–35 minutes outside peak hours. During weekday morning (07:30–09:30) or evening (17:00–19:30) traffic on the Attiki Odos motorway, allow up to 45–60 minutes. Your fixed price doesn't change either way.
Is it more expensive than a taxi, the metro or the bus?
The metro (about €9, ~40 minutes) and the X95 airport bus (about €5.50, ~60 minutes) are the cheapest options travelling solo with light luggage. Against a taxi, our fixed price is usually similar or better from two passengers up, with a driver already waiting for you instead of a queue.
Is there a charge if I land at a different terminal than expected?
No. Athens Airport has a Main Terminal and a seasonal Satellite Terminal, and your driver knows both — if your flight ends up at a different one than planned, they'll meet you there instead, at no extra charge.
Can I book a transfer for a late-night arrival?
Yes, we run transfers around the clock. Pickups between 00:00 and 05:00 have a small flat night surcharge (currently €15) rather than being priced the same as daytime — your driver will still be waiting with your name regardless of the hour.
Do you provide free child seats?
Yes. Tell us your child's age when you book and we'll have the right seat — infant carrier or booster — fitted and ready, at no extra charge.
Are you a licensed company?
Yes. AthensDayTrip operates as a licensed transport company in Greece, licence number 170330001000.
Tell us your flight, your date and how many of you are travelling
We come back with a fixed price for the whole van. No meter, no surprises on arrival.
